Did Dan Brown use the Bible as inspiration for the Da Vinci Code?

No. He would have used the Bible for research, surely, and to take some information that he incorporated into his novel, but the essence of the "Jesus had a bloodline through Mary Magdeline" plot came from a secret Catholic sect from hundreds of years ago. The trouble is, I can start a sect tomorrow to claim that Jesus revealed to me that his transportation of choice is a pink winged unicorn, but 800 years ping does not make it true. The "Da Vinci Code" is an interesting work of fiction, based on fact. It's true that there were people who believed Jesus had a child. But the statement itself was not true. Dan Brown decided to make this belief a truth in the fictional world of his novel, but in reality, Jesus did not have a child. The fact that somebody believes something does not actually make it true, and I'm sure you could find a hundred Atheists in the next 5 minutes willing to back me up on that lol.
