Need help from a fellow LDS/Mormon.?

I wouldn't go as far as your dad expressed but I would agree that heavy metal groups are not conducive to the spirit. Look at the 13th article of faith. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after those things. I would not qualify heavy metal under any of those topics. Thus, it drives the spirit away and should not be in our lives.
