I have a question does anyone know why?

i am a 15 year old sophmore guy with a turkish backround and i asked a iraqi girl out (she said no) and i later found out she was 17. she is single but is it wierd if a sophmore guy would go out with a senior girl? could it have been the age difference that made her say no?
